AC Repair in Mission Viejo and South Orange County

When an air conditioner stops cooling in the middle of a warm afternoon, the first question is not what a new system costs. The first question is what actually failed. Fortt Mechanical Inc is a family owned HVAC company run by Lucas Fortt and his dad, Art. We are based in Mission Viejo, and air conditioning repair in existing homes is the work we do most. Our approach starts with troubleshooting, because a careful diagnosis is what separates a fair repair from an unnecessary replacement.

We Find the Real Problem First

A system that is not cooling can have a short list of likely causes, and most of them are repairable. Common findings include:

  • A failed capacitor, contactor, or fan motor

  • Low refrigerant from a leak that needs to be found and fixed, not just topped off

  • A clogged condensate line or a tripped safety switch

  • A condenser that is mismatched, undersized, or failing on its own

  • Thermostat or control problems that make a healthy system look broken

We check the system methodically and explain what we find in plain terms before any work is approved. If the honest answer is a repair, we repair it. If one component has failed, we talk about replacing that component. A full system replacement only comes up when the equipment has genuinely reached the end of its life, and we will show you why.

Repairs for Homes Across South Orange County

We repair central air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless mini splits in homes throughout Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Hills, Irvine, Dana Point, and San Juan Capistrano, and we travel further across Southern California for the right job. When you call, you reach Art or Lucas directly, and one of us is the person who shows up at your door. There is no call center and no salesperson.

Keeping a Repaired System Running

Once a system is repaired, regular maintenance keeps small problems from turning into breakdowns. We offer maintenance visits at $149 per unit per visit, with filters included, paid per visit. There is no prepaid plan and no contract. We track when your last visit was and check in when the next one is due, and you decide each time whether you want us to come out. Twice a year is what we usually recommend.
